Derek Haase has a diverse work experience spanning multiple industries. Derek began their career as a Shuttle Driver and Shop Cleaner at Keller Bros. Auto Repair in 2014, where they ensured customer satisfaction by providing transportation and maintaining shop cleanliness. In 2016, Derek worked as a Student Guard at Georgetown University and also served as an EMT for the Georgetown Emergency Response Medical Service (GERMS), where they provided on-scene patient care and managed a budget as Treasurer. Alongside their roles at GERMS, they served as an Observation Hours Coordinator, scheduling observation hours and maintaining records for EMT trainees. In 2018, Derek interned for Congressman Jared Polis in the U.S. House of Representatives, conducting research and assisting with legislation proposals. At the same time, they took on the role of Special Writer for The Hoya, a Georgetown University publication. In 2017, Derek was elected as the Business Manager for The Georgetown Chimes, where they negotiated with clients and managed performances. Derek'swork at Georgetown continued with positions at the Georgetown University Medical Center, starting as a Research Assistant in the Department of Neurology before advancing to the role of Clinical Research Coordinator II, where they managed and coordinated clinical trials. Derek also served as the Director of Media and Patient Outreach, producing audio and video web content for patient education projects. Recently, in 2022, Derek joined Topography Health as a Clinical Research Coordinator, contributing to the expansion of patient access to clinical trials in underserved communities.

Derek Haase completed their education at Georgetown University from 2015 to 2019, earning a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in Political Economy. Prior to that, they attended Regis Jesuit High School from 2011 to 2015, although the degree obtained and field of study are unknown. Additionally, Derek Haase holds two certifications: a Maryland EMT License obtained in July 2020 from the Maryland Institute for Emergency Medical Services Systems, and a DC EMT License obtained in August 2016 from the DC Department of Health.
