Giles Gherson has extensive work experience in various leadership roles. Giles is currently the President and CEO of the Toronto Region Board of Trade since September 2023. Prior to that, they held the position of Executive Vice President & Chair of the Economic Blueprint Institute at the same organization from March 2022 to September 2023.
Before joining the Toronto Region Board of Trade, Gherson served as the Deputy Minister of Economic Development, Job Creation & Trade and Red Tape Reduction for the Government of Ontario from July 2018 to February 2022. Giles also held the positions of Deputy Minister Responsible for Small Business from January 2017 to July 2018, and Deputy Minister of Economic Development and Growth | Research, Innovation and Science from September 2014 to July 2018.
Earlier in their career, Gherson worked for the Ontario Government as the Deputy Minister of Consumer Services from 2011 to 2014. Giles also served as the Deputy Minister and Associate Secretary of the Cabinet, Policy and Delivery from 2008 to 2011, and Deputy Minister and Associate Secretary of the Cabinet, Communications from 2007 to 2008 at The Ontario Cabinet Office.
Additionally, Gherson has editorial experience as Editor in Chief at the Toronto Star from 2004 to 2006, and at the Edmonton Journal from 2000 to 2004.
Giles Gherson completed their Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in History from Queen's University from 1974 to 1978. Later, they attended Queen's University again, but no specific degree or field of study information is provided.
