Gareth Forbes

Gareth Forbes has over 13 years of work experience in various roles within the technology and business analysis fields. Gareth currently holds the position of Chief Information Officer at Tourvest Retail Services since 2020. Prior to this, Gareth worked at iOCO from 2012 to 2019, where they held roles such as Product Owner/Business Analyst Team Lead and Senior Business Analyst. During their time at iOCO, they were involved in projects such as the development of a new Point of Sales (POS) system for Tourvest Retail Services and the implementation of a TourPOS system for British Airways and Ethiopian Airlines. Before joining iOCO, Gareth worked at Floodgates CC as an Implementation Consultant in 2011 and at Real People Assurance Company as a Business Analyst and Project Manager from 2008 to 2011. Throughout their career, Gareth has demonstrated expertise in product strategy, project management, business analysis, and team leadership.

Gareth Forbes began their education in 2005 at the University of Fort Hare, where they pursued an Honours degree in Information Systems. Gareth'sfield of study was Management Information Systems, General. Gareth completed their studies in 2010.

In addition to their formal education, Gareth Forbes has obtained various certifications in software product management and agile practices. Gareth completed the "Software Product Management Specialization" from Coursera in November 2021. Prior to that, they obtained certifications in "Reviews & Metrics for Software Improvements," "Agile Planning for Software Products," "Client Needs and Software Requirements," "Introduction to Software Product Management," and "Software Processes and Agile Practices," all from Coursera, in the months of May, June, July, and August 2021.

Gareth has also obtained certifications from the South African Software Testing Qualification Board. Gareth received the "ISTQB – Foundation Agile" certification in July 2017 and the "ISTQB – Foundation" certification in July 2016.

Furthermore, Gareth Forbes holds the "Certified SAFe® 5 Agilist" certification from Scaled Agile, Inc., obtained in October 2021.
