Job description

Tower Research Capital, a leading high-frequency proprietary trading firm founded in 1998, seeks a skilled Senior Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) to join our global SRE Team in Singapore or Hong Kong.

Responsibilities 

  • Supporting and maintaining the firm’s Linux trading infrastructure on a day to day operational basis
  • Providing Level II support:
    • Emergency response
    • Executing planned changes and deployment
    • Advanced profiling and troubleshooting of performance issues
    • Participating in an on-call rotation, early and weekend shifts
  • Contributing to tools and systems to fully automate the provisioning, configuration and monitoring of thousands of servers
  • Interacting with both Trading and Core Engineering teams on regular basis
  • Lead designs of major software components and systems to improve the availability, latency, and efficiency of Tower's trading services
  • Providing guidance to other team members on managing the performance of trading critical services and building automation to prevent problem recurrence.
  • Mentoring and training other team members on design techniques and coding standards, and to cultivate innovation and collaboration within and across teams.
  • Managing individual projects priorities, deadlines, and deliverables

Qualifications

  • Strong experience in a Linux production environment
  • Expert knowledge of Python and Bash
  • Prior experience in software engineering
  • Daily use of and contribution to developing automation and monitoring tools, such as configuration management, source control, CI/CD, automated deployment
  • Good understanding of OS concepts and internals of Linux
  • Working knowledge of Intel-based hardware and server components
  • Understanding of server-side networking and typical network protocols
  • Experience architecting, developing, and troubleshooting systems
  • Systematic problem-solving approach, coupled with excellent communication skills and a sense of ownership and drive

Preferred Qualifications

  • Participation in open source or personal projects
  • Experience in High Frequency Trading, Quantitative Finance or low latency environment is preferred but not a requirement

  • Strong communicator
  • Proactive and willing to take initiative
  • Able to manage and prioritize multiple tasks
  • Excellent at supporting Linux Production environments
  • Able to work both within a team and independently
