John W. Lane currently serves as the Director of Building Services and Chief Building Official for the Town of Caledon since September 2025. Lane has been the President of the Ontario Building Officials Association (OBOA) since October 2016, where the organization represents 2000 members in administering provincial and municipal building laws. As a faculty member at Mohawk College since September 1990, Lane holds the position of Chair of the Architectural Advisory Committee and Program Manager for the Residential Design and Construction Certificate Program. Previous roles include Chief Building Official for the City of St. Catharines from July 2021 to September 2025, and Deputy Chief Building Official for the City of Hamilton from March 1989 to July 2021. Lane has also held leadership positions with the Niagara Chapter of the OBOA and the Ontario Association of Property Standards Officers. Educational qualifications include an Architectural Technology degree from Mohawk College and a Master's Certificate in Municipal Management and Leadership from the Schulich School of Business, York University. Lane holds the Certified Building Code Official (CBCO) designation.
