Long known as the "Dude Ranch Capital of the World,"​ today's Wickenburg has a diversified economy primarily driven by health and life sciences, tourism, equestrian activities, and light manufacturing. 

The Town of Wickenburg was incorporated in 1909 to provide public services to the community. Major programs and services offered include utilities, parks and recreation, police, fire, public works, court, library, and airport.
