Virginia Martin

Virginia Martin is a seasoned journalist with extensive experience in news editing, writing, and project management. Currently serving as the News Editor for BirminghamWatch since July 2017, Virginia manages the website, oversees story assignments, and maintains the budget following leadership transitions. In addition, Virginia works as a writer and project manager for Town Square Publications, and provides freelance editing and writing services for various clients, including Over the Mountain Journal and HERLIFE Magazine. Previous roles include copyediting for Over the Mountain Journal, proofreading for HERLIFE Magazine, and a significant tenure as Political Editor at The Birmingham News, where Virginia led statewide political coverage, collaborating with multiple newspapers. Virginia holds a bachelor's degree in Journalism from Auburn University and is a master's candidate in media management from the University of Missouri-Columbia.
