Tyrone Nelson

Tyrone Nelson is an experienced educator with a strong background in fine arts and educational leadership. Currently serving as the Department Chair at Township High School District 113 since June 2012, Tyrone oversees academic support and discipline for over 800 students in a diverse, high-performing school environment. Prior to this role, Tyrone worked as the Dean of Students at Evanston Township High School from September 2002 to October 2012, where notable accomplishments included developing an alternative to suspension model that improved student attendance and GPA. Earlier in the career, Tyrone held positions as a Fine Arts Teacher and Gifted Art Teacher, contributing to various art programs and developing community engagement through art exhibitions and the Sculpture Club. Educational qualifications include a BFA in Art Education from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and a Master's in Educational Leadership from National Louis University.
