David Ownby

David Ownby has extensive experience in academia, currently serving as the Interim Dean of Graduate Studies and Associate Dean of Graduate Studies at Towson University since August 2007. In these roles, David collaborates on policy development, diversity initiatives, enrollment management, and strategic planning, while also managing all aspects of graduate student life and supporting the Graduate Student Association. David's academic career includes positions as a Professor and Associate Professor of Chemistry, where teaching and researching environmental chemistry, ecotoxicology, and the impacts of metals and road salt have been central focuses. Prior to Towson University, David held positions at Stephen F. Austin State University as an Assistant Professor of Environmental Science, and as a Postdoctoral Researcher at Southern Illinois University, where research involved bioaccumulation studies. David holds a Ph.D. in Marine Science from the Virginia Institute of Marine Science and has a background in environmental toxicology and risk assessment.
