Lukas Kaul

Lukas Kaul is a Senior Research Scientist at the Toyota Research Institute since September 2019, focusing on advanced robotics. Prior experience includes a role as a Research Scientist in Robotics at the University of Karlsruhe from October 2014 to August 2019, where significant contributions were made in developing hardware and software for humanoid robots, including areas such as robot design, actuation, sensing, control, and mechatronic system integration. Lukas also interned at CSIRO, contributing to the development of a 3D laser scanning system for unmanned aerial vehicles, and worked as a Student Research Assistant at both Karlsruhe Institute of Technology and the University of Karlsruhe, as well as intern positions at BOMAG GmbH and Ruland Engineering and Consulting. Education credentials include a Dr. Eng. in Robotics, a Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering, and a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, all from Karlsruhe Institute of Technology, complemented by experience at Shanghai Jiao Tong University.
