Juan Carlos Acuña has a strong background in software development and management roles. Juan Carlos began their career in 2005 as a Technical and Billing Support representative at Sykes, where they provided assistance to customers and demonstrated advanced customer service skills. In 2007, they joined Trax Technologies as a Web Developer, focusing on the development, modification, and deployment of web-based .Net applications. Juan Carlos then moved to Aplicor in 2007, starting as a .NET Developer and later becoming a Development Team Lead, overseeing a team of 4-7 people and managing software products under a SAAS approach. In 2016, Acuña joined TradeStation as a Javascript Full-Stack Developer, specializing in Angular, JavaScript, JQuery, and other technologies. Juan Carlos later transitioned to the role of Senior Principal Software Engineer and most recently served as a Software Development Manager, working with Next.js, React, Redux, and other technologies.

Juan Carlos Acuña has a diverse education history. Juan Carlos obtained a Master's Degree in IT Project Management (MATI) from the Universidad Nacional de Costa Rica, completing their studies from 2007 to 2009. In 2011, they earned a Scrum Master Certification from the Scrum Institute. Prior to that, they obtained a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science Engineering from the Universidad Latina de Costa Rica, graduating between 2002 and 2005. Juan Carlos acquired their High School Degree from Santa Cecilia Bilingual High School from 1997 to 2001. In addition to their formal education, they achieved a certification in Leading SAFe Course (5.1) from Scaled Agile, Inc. in May 2022.
