Michael Bourdier

Michael Bourdier's work experience includes various roles in the energy and commodities industry. Michael started their career at Bouygues Group in 1999, working in project finance. Michael then moved on to BNP Paribas, where they worked in energy and commodities until 2005.

In 2005, Bourdier joined Trafigura as the Regional Structured Finance Manager for the Middle East and Turkey. Michael later became the Regional Business Development Manager for the Middle East and East Africa, and then served as the Head of Business Development for Puma Energy in the Asia Pacific and Middle East regions.

Following their time at Trafigura, Bourdier worked at Castleton Commodities International as the Managing Director for the Asia Pacific region (excluding China). Michael then joined Gunvor Group Ltd as the Managing Director for the Asia Pacific region.

In 2018, Bourdier joined Pavilion Energy as the Chief Risk Officer, responsible for establishing risk and control functions and implementing ETRM systems. After completing their mission, they moved to Prax in 2020, where they served as the Managing Director for the Middle East and Asia, reporting to the Group CEO and overseeing trading activities and asset expansion in the region.

Currently, Bourdier holds the position of COO Africa Trading at Trafigura, where they are responsible for overseeing trading operations in Africa.

Michael Bourdier has a diverse education history. Michael attended the Prytanée National Militaire de La Flèche from 1992 to 1995, where they studied Maths & Physics in military school to prepare for the Naval Academy. Michael then went on to earn an MSc in Building Engineering from the Ecole spéciale des Travaux publics, du Bâtiment et de l'Industrie from 1995 to 1998. In 1998 to 1999, Michael pursued a Specialised Master in International Project Management at ESCP Business School. Most recently, they completed an Executive Education- Advanced Management (AMP 194) program at Harvard Business School in 2018.
