Medical Social Worker at Transitions LifeCare

Elizabeth Barnes has a diverse work experience in the field of social work. Elizabeth has worked as a Medical Social Worker at Springmoor Life Care Retirement Community since 2023. Prior to that, they worked at Transitions LifeCare, where they provided psychosocial assessment, communicated patient and family needs to the interdisciplinary team, and offered bereavement support to patients' families and friends. From 2017 to 2018, Elizabeth was employed at CareTenders Home Health VNA, where they conducted psychosocial assessments, identified community resources, and communicated patient needs to the interdisciplinary team. Before that, they served as a Hospice Facilitator at VNACare Network & Hospice, providing emotional and practical support to hospice patients and their families, and offering social, emotional, spiritual, and grief support during the dying process.

Elizabeth Barnes, MSW, CMSW, LCSW, MACP, attended Duke Divinity School from 2020 to 2022 where they obtained a Master of Arts in Christian Practice with a focus on Christian Studies. Prior to this, they attended Simmons College from 2005 to 2009 and earned a Master of Social Work degree with a specialization in Social Work. Their undergraduate studies were completed at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill from 1980 to 1982 where they received a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration and Management, General. Elizabeth has also obtained additional certifications including being a Licensed Certified Social Worker through the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Board of Registration of Social Workers in December 2018 and being a Certified Master Social Worker through the NORTH CAROLINA SOCIAL WORKERS ASSOCIATION in the same year.
