Laura Patel

Laura Patel has a diverse work experience in the healthcare industry. Laura started working at Whanganui District Health Board in 2009 as a Geriatrician. In 2010, they transitioned to Gilchrist Hospice Care, where they worked as a Geriatrician and Hospice Physician until 2013. After that, Laura joined Transitions LifeCare (formerly known as Hospice of Wake County) as a Hospice Medical Director from 2013 to 2015. In 2015, they became the Chief Medical Officer at Transitions LifeCare and later took on the role of Chief Executive Officer in May 2022.

Laura Patel has a Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree from the University of Minnesota. Laura also holds a Bachelor's degree in Biology, General from Macalester College. Laura completed their residency in the Department of Medicine at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Medicine. Laura further pursued a fellowship in Geriatric Medicine at the same institution. Additionally, Laura completed the Leadership for Physician Executives program at Harvard Medical School.

In terms of certifications, Laura obtained the Hospice Medical Directors Certification from the Hospice Medical Director Certification Board® in August 2021. Laura is also a Fellow of the American Hospice and Palliative Medicine (FAAHPM). Furthermore, Laura is certified in Geriatric Medicine, Hospice and Palliative Medicine, and Internal Medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine.
