Joe Maida IV has over 25 years of work experience, starting as an intern for the US Department of Justice in 1991. Joe worked as an Assistant Criminal District Attorney for the Office of the Galveston County Criminal District Attorney where they prosecuted major felonies and violent crime cases. Later, they served as an Assistant District Attorney for the Office of the Travis County District Attorney, prosecuting felony cases subject to intense public and media scrutiny. Joe then served as an Assistant Attorney General for the Money Laundering Unit for the Office of the Attorney General of Texas, funded with US Department of Justice funds to mount an effective challenge to the financial infrastructure of complex criminal organizations and terrorist networks. Joe then worked with the US Department of State as a Team Leader in the Justice Sector Support Program and later as Head of Rule of Law for the Helmand Provincial Reconstruction Team, where they managed all civilian US rule of law capacity building efforts in the provinces of Kandahar, Zabul, and Uruzgan. Joe also worked as Regional Rule of Law Coordinator/Lead for Regional Platform South in Afghanistan. Joe also served as a Special Advisor on Threat Finance for the United States Special Operations Command and as a Special Advisor to the Commander for Corruption and Organized Crime for the Shafafiyat program of the Defense Intelligence Agency. In 2014, they founded TransNexus Technologies, LLC, where they currently work as the CEO. In 2018, Joe also worked as a Special Assistant to the DASD for Special Operations and Combating Terrorism OUSD Policy at the United States Department of Defense.
Joe Maida IV obtained a Bachelor of Science in Political Science with a minor in Business Management (Statistics) from Texas A&M University in 1987. Joe then went on to obtain a Juris Doctor from the University of Houston Law Center in 1992. In addition to their education, Joe holds a certification as a Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist from ACAMS, is Board Certified in Criminal Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization, is a licensed attorney through the Supreme Court of Texas, and holds a Clearance Level of Top Secret/Sensitive Compartmented Information from the United States Department of Defense. Joe attended high school at St. Thomas High School, although it is not specified when they attended or when they graduated.
