Mahmood Akhtar

Mahmood Akhtar is a seasoned professional with extensive experience in data modeling, machine learning, and biomedical engineering. Currently serving as the Data Modelling Lead at Transport for NSW since October 2022, Mahmood focuses on multi-modal operational and customer modeling to enhance planning and operations in Greater Sydney. Previously, Mahmood held roles including Machine Learning Specialist at CSIRO, where significant projects involved climate variability prediction and water quality monitoring, and Research Fellow at UNSW, developing innovative ultrasound imaging technology for assessing fetal health. With a strong academic background, Mahmood earned a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from UNSW and has contributed to numerous research initiatives across various esteemed institutions, emphasizing machine learning applications in biosecurity and biomedical imaging.
