Alastair de Beer has extensive work experience in the transportation and infrastructure industry. Alastair has held various positions with different organizations throughout their career. Alastair started working at the Department of Transport - Kwazulu Natal in 1999 as an Engineer, where they worked until 2002. Following that, they joined Kildare County Council as an Engineer from 2002 to 2006. Alastair then joined the National Roads Authority - Ireland, where they worked as a Project Manager (Standards) from 2006 to 2012. Alastair continued their career at the National Roads Authority Ireland as a Project Manager (Safety) from 2012 to 2015. Currently, Alastair is working at Transport Infrastructure Ireland since 2015, initially as a Senior Engineer (Roads, Tunnels and Construction Safety) and later promoted to the role of Head of Road and Tunnel Safety in November 2017.
Alastair de Beer completed their Bachelor of Engineering (B.Eng) degree in Civil Engineering from Stellenbosch University, where they studied from 1995 to 1998. After a gap in their education, from 2009 to 2011, they pursued a Master's in Business Studies (MBS) with a specialization in Occupational Safety and Health at Dublin City University.
Additionally, they hold the certification of Chartered Engineer from Engineers Ireland, although the month and year of obtaining this certification are not specified.
