John Connolly

John Connolly is an experienced engineering professional with a robust background in systems and electrical engineering, primarily within the rail and healthcare sectors. Currently serving as a Senior Systems Engineer at the Railway Procurement Agency since November 2011, John leads the design of lineside workfront elements for the Luas BXD project. Prior roles include Senior Power & Systems Engineer and Senior Systems Engineer at the Railway Procurement Agency, where John contributed to various Luas lines. Previous experience encompasses positions at Buro Happold as a Senior Project Engineer, focusing on projects like the Irish Rail BGRA, and at VMRA as a Senior Electrical Engineer, specializing in healthcare institution designs. Earlier in the career, John worked as an Electrical Project Engineer with Cubic Transportation Systems and as a Project Engineer with JQ Design Consultants, contributing to rail network projects. John holds an MSc in Renewable Energy & Energy Management from Ulster University, along with several accolades and qualifications, including Chartered Engineer status from Engineers Ireland.
