Desiree Lowit LICSW (MA), LCSW (NY) is a licensed clinical social worker with extensive experience in psychotherapy and trauma recovery. Since February 2014, Desiree has operated a private practice as a psychotherapist while also serving as the Trauma Recovery Network Western Massachusetts Area Coordinator for EMDR Humanitarian Assistance Programs, Inc., coordinating volunteer mental health professionals to offer pro-bono EMDR therapy in emergencies. Currently, Desiree is a Clinical Supervisor at the Trauma Institute & Child Trauma Institute, overseeing the clinical work of LICSW candidates in EMDR treatment modalities. Previous roles include Summer Clinical Consultant at Smith College, Integrated Behavioral Health Clinician at Northampton Area Pediatrics, and psychotherapist positions at other organizations. Desiree holds a Master's degree in Clinical Social Work from Smith College and a Bachelor's degree in Disability Studies from the New College of California.

The mission of Trauma Recovery, EMDR Humanitarian Assistance Programs, Inc. (HAP) is to build capacity for effective treatment of traumatic stress disorders in underserved communities anywhere in the world. This mission is accomplished through the highest standard of EMDR therapy Basic and Specialty training and developing local Trauma Recovery Network® (TRN®) volunteer groups. Our continuous efforts have positively impacted the lives of many, enabling them to move forward with their lives and be free of the trauma they experienced.
