Jiyeong Chun

Scientist II at Treeline Biosciences

Jiyeong Chun has a diverse work experience in the field of biosciences. Jiyeong is currently working as a Scientist II at Treeline Biosciences since February 2023. Prior to that, they worked at OVIBIO, where they held various roles including Senior Scientist from June 2022 to January 2023, Scientist from April 2021 to June 2022, and Associate Scientist from March 2020 to April 2021.

Before joining the industry, Jiyeong pursued their education and research. Jiyeong completed their PhD at the University of Cambridge from October 2012 to February 2017. During this time, they developed a purification protocol for an inclusion body forming protein, stabilized protein structures under stress, and enhanced the fluorescence emitting capacity of a recombinant fluorescent protein.

Prior to their PhD, Jiyeong conducted research as a Master's degree student at Seoul National University from March 2009 to February 2011. Their research focused on amyloid-forming protein purification and the characterization of protein assembly in different ionic environments.

Jiyeong also gained research experience as a Research Intern at Yonsei University, Yale University, and the Korea Research Institute of Bioscience and Biotechnology (KRIBB). At Yonsei University from July 2006 to August 2008, they researched a direct protein transduction method for potential treatments of autoimmune diseases. Jiyeong received the Undergraduate Thesis Presentation Award for this research. At Yale University, they worked as a Research Intern from December 2007 to February 2008. Jiyeong also worked as a Research Intern at KRIBB from June 2006 to August 2006.

Jiyeong Chun's education history includes a Bachelor's degree in Biotechnology and Bioengineering from Yonsei University, which was obtained from 2005 to 2009. Following this, they pursued a Master's degree in Chemical Engineering and Biotechnology at Seoul National University, which they completed from 2009 to 2011. Jiyeong then advanced their studies further by obtaining a PhD in Biotechnology from the University of Cambridge, where they studied from 2012 to 2016.
