Melanie Bricker has held a variety of roles in their professional career. Melanie began their career in 2003 as a Ballpark Tour and Fan Services Representative for the Baltimore Orioles. In 2006, they worked as a Field Organizer & Intern for ACORN and a Rental Manager/Social Enterprise Manager for Union Project. From 2009 to 2015, they held various positions at The Franklin Institute, including Special Projects Manager (Science and Education), Special Projects Manager (Development), Capital Campaign Coordinator, Interim Assistant to the President and CEO, and Development Assistant. From 2015 to 2018, they were the Director of Strategic Initiatives and Director of Development Services (Philanthropy) at the National Aquarium. During this same period, they also worked as an Independent Consultant for Melanie Bricker Consulting and an Associate Consultant for Maryland Nonprofits. In 2018, they became Revenue Operations Manager and Sales Development Representative at TreeRing.
Melanie Bricker attended the University of Pittsburgh from 2002 to 2006, where they earned a B.A. in English Writing with certificates in Global Studies and Latin American Studies. Melanie then went on to study International Studies (International Development) at Simon Fraser University, earning an M.A. in 2008-2009. In 2004, Melanie participated in a study abroad program with Semester At Sea / ISE, focusing on International/Global Studies. Melanie also studied Spanish at Universidad LCI Veritas in 2005. In 2013-2014, Melanie took post-graduate courses at Oregon State University in Free Choice Learning. In October 2016, they obtained a certification in Standards for Excellence from the Standards for Excellence Institute\u00ae.
