Graham Galloway has a diverse and extensive work experience in the field of biomedical imaging and research. Graham is currently serving as the Director of the Herston Imaging Research Facility since 2021. Prior to this, they held the position of Director of Imaging Technology at the Translational Research Institute Australia starting from 2015.
Galloway's career began at The University of Queensland in 1993, where they served as a Professor in Biomedical Imaging and Spectroscopy. With a research focus on cardiac, musculoskeletal, thoracic, and abdominal imaging, they also led a research group exploring the applications of Magnetic Resonance in various areas. Graham also served as a Principal Research Fellow at the university from 1993 to 2002.
Throughout their career, Galloway has been actively involved in various advisory and management roles. Graham served as a Member of the Scientific Advisory Board at Euro-BioImaging since 2020 and as the Chair of the Scientific Committee at Matai since 2019. Graham also held the position of Adjunct Professor in Medical Imaging at the Queensland University of Technology, starting from 2015. In addition, Galloway served as a Member of the Management Board at Global BioImaging from 2018 to 2021.
Galloway has also contributed significantly to the field of collaborative research infrastructure. As the Chief Executive Officer of the National Imaging Facility, part of Australia's National Collaborative Research Infrastructure Strategy (NCRIS), they worked towards maximizing the use of biomedical imaging capabilities for the wider scientific community from 2017 to 2021. Graham also served as the Director of Operations at the National Imaging Facility from 2007 to 2017.
Prior to their academic and management roles, Galloway worked as an Applications Scientist at Bruker Biospin MRI from 1990 to 1993. Graham also held the position of Senior Research Fellow at The University of Queensland from 1988 to 1989.

Graham Galloway has a diverse education history. Graham began their academic journey at Waratah Primary from 1967 to 1968 and later attended Kotara High School from 1969 to 1974. After completing their secondary education, Graham pursued higher studies at The Australian National University from 1975 to 1983. During this period, they earned a B.Sc.(H) and a PhD degree in Chemistry and Clinical Science.
In 1988, Graham returned to education and enrolled at QUT (Queensland University of Technology). Graham studied Computer Science at QUT from 1988 to 1992, completing a Graduate Certificate in Computer Science.
In addition to their formal education, Graham has obtained several certifications. In 2016, they obtained the "Good Clinical Practice for Clinical Investigational Sites" certification from ARCS Australia Ltd. Furthermore, in 2022, they obtained the "Good Clinical Practice Investigator and Site Accreditation" certification from Genesis Research Services Pty Ltd. These certifications demonstrate their commitment to staying up-to-date with professional practices in their field.
