Jennifer Howard has a diverse work experience spanning over two decades. Jennifer began their career in 1997 as a Child and Youth Care Counsellor at Enviros WSA and later worked as an Educational Child and Youth Care Counsellor, Family Worker, and Shift Leader at Hull Services.
In 2003, Jennifer joined Mount Royal University as a Work Experience Coordinator, where they focused on job development strategies and supporting students in their job search and professional development. Jennifer worked in this role until 2005.
Jennifer then transitioned to the Calgary Board of Education, where they took on the roles of Bridges/Behaviour Support Worker/Special Education, providing support to students with emotional and behavioral diagnoses. Jennifer was responsible for developing safety plans, building relationships, and implementing behavioral programs. Jennifer also worked closely with families, designed individual program plans and behavior support plans, and communicated with parents/guardians. Jennifer held this position from 2015 to 2018.
From 2008 to 2021, Jennifer owned and managed a franchise of Cora Breakfast and Lunch. In this role, they handled various responsibilities, including staffing, financial management, and marketing.
Most recently, Jennifer joined the Trico Centre for Family Wellness in 2022 as a Child and Youth Programs Director.
Jennifer Howard has an extensive education history in the field of Community Health Services/Liaison/Counseling. From 1996 to 1998, they attended Mount Royal University, where they obtained an Arts and Science Diploma and a Child and Youth Care Counselling Diploma. Jennifer then continued their studies at Mount Royal University from 1999 to 2002, earning a Bachelor of Child Studies degree and additional certifications in Children's Mental Health and Addiction Studies.
In addition to their academic achievements, Jennifer also holds various certifications in the field. Jennifer obtained a Brain Story Certification from the Palix Foundation Alberta Family Wellness Initiative in November 2021. In October 2020, they obtained Standard First Aid, CPR, and AED certification from the Canadian Red Cross. In June 2017, they completed Therapeutic Crisis Intervention and Suicide Intervention training at Hull Services. Furthermore, in February 2017, Jennifer acquired certification in the Neurosequential Model from the Child Trauma Academy and completed Prevent it (Taking action to stop child sexual abuse) training provided by Little Warriors. Lastly, in June 2002, they became a Full Certified Child and Youth Counsellor through the Child and Youth Care Association of Alberta.
