As chief legal officer of Trinity Health, Linda Ross is responsible for all legal matters across our Ministry, including canon law. She also acts as counsel to the Trinity Health Board of Directors.
Linda joined Trinity Health in 2016, as senior vice president, mergers and acquisitions counsel. She has been responsible for system and regional health care transactions including mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, joint operating agreements, joint ventures, partnerships and affiliations.
She also has collaborated with other Trinity Health teams on transactions involving hospitals and health systems, ambulatory surgery centers, urgent care centers, long-term care facilities and physician groups.
Prior to joining Trinity Health, Linda served as chair, Health Care Department, and leader of the Corporate Department Health Care Practice Group at Honigman Miller Schwartz and Cohn LLP, where she became partner in 1994. In this role, she was lead counsel in affiliations, acquisitions, divestitures, mergers, reorganizations, joint ventures and other alignment transactions. Her work involved Catholic, secular and municipal hospitals across the United States.
She also has extensive experience with regulatory and compliance matters involving the Stark Law, Anti-kickback Statute, Certificate of Need, self-disclosures to the Office of Inspector General, HIPAA, and laws and regulations governing tax-exempt entities.
Linda obtained her J.D. from Wayne State University School of Law in Detroit. She also holds a master's degree in Dental Public Health from Boston University, and a bachelor's degree in Dental Hygiene from the University of Michigan. She has published numerous articles and serves on a number of charitable boards such as Mercy Health Network, the Michigan Attorney General's Nonprofit Council for Charitable Trusts, The Pink Fund, and Alternatives for Girls, where she currently serves as chair.
