Senior Engineering Manager at Trint

Bret Colloff has extensive work experience in the software engineering field. Bret is currently serving as the Lead Software Engineer at Trint since March 2021. Prior to that, they worked at Equal Experts as a Senior Software Engineering Consultant from August 2020 to March 2021. Bret also worked as a Consultant Software Engineer at PayPoint plc from June 2019 to July 2020, where they were responsible for driving improvements in agile methodologies, testing practices, and product quality. Bret played a key role in migrating the back-end infrastructure of the POS Android devices to an Azure-based service.

Before PayPoint plc, Bret was a Principal Software Engineer at Hutoma AI from January 2017 to May 2019. Here, they worked directly with Nokia, the largest customer, to gather and scope requirements for additional functionality to the chatbot platform. Bret also developed new APIs and functionality for a chatbot building platform hosted in Google Cloud.

Bret's work experience also includes serving as a Senior Software Engineer at Ericsson from September 2013 to November 2016, where they contributed to system design decisions and discussions. Bret played a crucial role in driving improvements in data quality and API performance for the Analytics and Scale Testing teams.

Prior to Ericsson, Bret worked at Microsoft in two different roles. Bret started as a Software Development Engineer in Test from December 2011 to September 2013, where they designed and implemented automated test plans for the XBOX 360 platform. Bret also managed TCR submissions and test passes to prevent resubmissions. Later, they served as a Software Development Engineer from November 2010 to December 2011, where they integrated test software into game engines and extended them to provide custom telemetry for Microsoft Studios Games Test Organization.

Bret began their career as a Technical Designer (Student Intern) at Monumental Games from June 2008 to September 2009.

Bret Colloff completed their education at multiple institutions. Bret obtained a BSc degree in Computer Games Programming from the University of Derby between 2006 and 2010. Prior to that, they attended Solihull Sixth Form College from 2004 to 2006, focusing on Computing, Business Studies, Design & Technology. Their earlier education includes attending Bishop Vesey's Grammar School from 1999 to 2004, without any specified degree or field of study. Additionally, Bret has obtained several certifications, such as "Building Batch Data Pipelines on GCP" and "Google Cloud Platform Big Data and Machine Learning Fundamentals" from Coursera in 2020, "Cloud Architecture" and "GCP Essentials, Cloud Architecture" from Qwiklabs in 2019, and "Structuring Machine Learning Projects" from Coursera Course Certificates in 2017. Bret also holds the certification of "Certified Scrum Master" from the Scrum Alliance in 2013.
