John Salmi has a diverse work experience spanning over three decades. John started their career at ETA Systems in 1987 as a System Administrator and Software Engineer. John then worked at Solbourne as a Unix God and National Systems Engineer. John continued their career at Sun Microsystems as a Systems Engineer and Pre-Sales Engineer, specializing in solution architecture and clusters. From 2003 to 2006, they worked at Raytheon IIS as a Senior Systems Integration Technologist, focusing on Linux, Unix, and various storage technologies. At Symantec, they served as a Senior Systems Engineer, specializing in availability and backup solutions. John later joined BMC Software as a Senior Pre-Sales Consultant, where they provided expertise in cloud and data center automation. John worked at HP as a Cloud Solution Architect and then moved on to Veritas Technologies Corporation as a Data Center Resiliency Architect. Prior to their current position, they founded Pre-Sales Engineering Leaders in Minneapolis-St. Paul, where they served as the Founder and Pre-Sales Engineer for software and hardware. Currently, they hold the role of Principal Security Engineer at Tripwire.

John Salmi attended Hibbing High School in Hibbing, MN. John then went on to study Computer Programming & Technology at UW Stout, specifically at the Brown Institute, where they obtained a degree. John also holds a certification in ITIL Foundation.
