Leenald Aungunu

Professional-in-training: Metallurgy at Tronox

Leenald Aungunu is a metallurgy professional currently working at Tronox since November 2022. Previously, Leenald served as an Undergraduate Research Assistant at the University of KwaZulu-Natal in early 2021, where research focused on the higher heating value of Municipal Solid Waste (MSW) using machine learning algorithms to establish correlations based on elemental composition. In 2019, Leenald gained experience as a process engineering intern at South32 Aluminium (Holdings) Pty Ltd, supporting daily operations in the aluminium cast-house. Leenald holds a Bachelor of Science (Honours) degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of KwaZulu-Natal, completed in 2020.
