Oliver March

Head Of Molecular Biology (molecular Biology Department) at Tropic Biosciences

Oliver March has a diverse work experience in the field of molecular biology. Oliver is currently working at Tropic as the Head of Molecular Biology since December 2022. Prior to this role, they served as the Team Lead (Maternity Cover) in the Molecular Biology Team from April 2022 to December 2022 at the same company. Before joining Tropic, Oliver was the Genotyping Lead in the Molecular Biology Team at Tropic from December 2020 to April 2022 and started their career there as a Research Scientist in the same team from December 2019 to December 2020.

Oliver March also worked as a Research Associate at EB-Haus Austria from March 2018 to November 2019, where they were involved in a study on CRISPR/Cas9-mediated correction of inherited mutations in junctional epidermolysis bullosa. Oliver'sresponsibilities included developing and implementing a gene editing targeting strategy, collating and analyzing data, and assessing project goals based on current scientific literature.

Additionally, Oliver March has research experience from Newcastle University. Oliver worked as a PhD Researcher from 2014 to 2018, focusing on developing an optimized TALEN-mediated ex vivo gene therapy for epidermolytic ichthyosis. Oliver successfully developed an ex vivo gene editing therapeutic approach and generated cell-based knockout and disease models. Earlier, they completed a Bachelor Thesis in 2014, where they characterized the effect of Sox9 on KSC (keratinocyte stem cells) through gene knockout and independent research analysis.

During their time at EB-Haus Austria, Oliver March also worked as a PhD Researcher from July 2015 to October 2017 on the same project of developing an optimized TALEN-mediated ex vivo gene therapy for epidermolytic ichthyosis, contributing to the successful development of the therapeutic approach and generating cell-based knockout and disease models.

Oliver March began their education journey in 2011 at Newcastle University, where they pursued a Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree in Biochemistry. Oliver completed this undergraduate program in 2014. Following their undergraduate studies, Oliver March continued their education at Newcastle University and pursued a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Cell/Cellular and Molecular Biology. Oliver successfully completed their PhD program in 2018.
