John’s interest in financial planning began when, as a frustrated 17-year-old, he sought to help his mom after his father’s unexpected death. At that time, most financial advisors were tied to insurance companies or brokerage firms, so she ended up purchasing products that were laden with high fees and inappropriate for her situation. This experience motivated John to find a different approach to financial advice, a topic he’s been quoted on in several publications over the years, including in Kiplinger’s, Wall Street Journal, and Money Magazine. John is proud to work at Truepoint, and he feels honored to learn about his clients’ concerns, fears, hopes, and dreams. He enjoys drawing on his technical knowledge—particularly of tax strategies, retirement planning, and income forecasting—to create a plan that will empower clients to achieve their goals.
