Derek McCarty

Derek McCarty has a significant work experience in the IT industry. Derek has held various roles in different companies, starting with CDW where they worked as a Systems Engineer from April 2002 to April 2009. Derek then became an Engineering Manager at CDW from April 2009 to April 2011.

After that, Derek joined Madison Area Technical College as a Part-time Instructor from January 2010 to April 2011.

Following their time at Madison Area Technical College, Derek joined TruStage in April 2011 as an IT Manager. Derek worked in this role until November 2015 when they were promoted to Senior IT Manager. In this role, Derek was responsible for leading the IT Data and Information Management team and implementing Agile tools and techniques in the IT department. Derek also oversaw the IT Service Management program and the evolution of DevOps.

Derek's next role at TruStage was Director, Data and Application Operations, which they held from September 2018 to January 2021. In this position, they had accountability for the management of data and applications.

Most recently, Derek served as IT Director, Product Development at TruStage from January 2021 to June 2023. Currently, they hold the position of VP, IT Solutions Delivery at TruStage, starting from June 2023.

Overall, Derek has accumulated a wealth of experience in IT management, data and application operations, and product development throughout their career.

Derek McCarty completed their undergraduate education at the University of Wisconsin-Madison from 1999 to 2003, where they studied Computer Science with a focus on Computer Architecture. Derek later pursued their MBA in IT Management at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater, graduating between 2008 and 2011. Moreover, Derek has obtained various certifications including SAFe 4.0 Agilist from Scaled Agile, Inc., ITIL v3 Foundations, Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator from Microsoft, and VMware Certified Professional from VMware.
