Joanne Furtsch, CIPP-US, CIPT, FIP, has a strong background in privacy intelligence development and policy and data governance. Joanne has extensive experience working for TrustArc, where they served as Director of Privacy Intelligence Development since June 2018. In this role, they built and led an 8-person team responsible for developing intelligent assessments and designing applicability rules across multiple legal and regulatory standards. Joanne also co-developed TrustArc's risk management approach for data protection and data transfer. Prior to this, Joanne held the role of Director of Policy & Data Governance at TrustArc from 2011 to June 2018. Joanne'sresponsibilities included defining product policies and the core product platform.
Before their tenure at TrustArc, Joanne worked as a Policy & Product Architect at TRUSTe, where they completed a year-long cross-functional initiative to update the Privacy Program Requirements in response to changes in the online ecosystem. This update included standards for certifying the privacy practices of mobile apps and websites optimized for mobile devices.
Joanne's earlier roles include Senior Policy Architect and Senior Policy Analyst at TRUSTe, where they contributed to policy development, and a Senior Client Services Manager position at TrustArc from 1999 to 2006, where they managed client relationships.
Joanne is also an active member of the US Technical Advisory Group: Privacy by Design, serving as a Working Group Member for the U.S. TAG to ISO/PC 317: Privacy by Design for consumer goods and services since July 2018.
Joanne Furtsch, CIPP-US, CIPT, FIP, obtained their BA degree in Finance from California State University, Fullerton, between 1993 and 1997. Additionally, in December 2018, they obtained the Fellow Information Privacy certification from the IAPP - International Association of Privacy Professionals.
