Philip Kwong has a diverse work experience, beginning in 2007 as a Research Assistant at Memorial University of Newfoundland, where they investigated the air-sensitive synthesis of small molecules and catalysts. Philip was awarded a Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada undergraduate student researcher award. In 2008, they worked as an Advanced Fiber Systems Intern at DuPont, where they created the first site laboratory setup to develop Kevlar fiber-elastomer composites. Philip then worked as a Research Student at Queen's University, studying the use of switchable “green” anionic surfactants for emulsion polymerization of styrene.

In 2009, Philip Kwong began their Ph.D. Candidate role at the University of Southern California, where they researched polymer coatings, surface and interfacial science, and chemical vapor deposition. This resulted in 8 co-authored publications and 1 US patent. In 2015, they worked as a Product Engineer III at Lam Research, where they ensured successful startup of a Fortune 50 customer’s high-volume manufacturing facility in China. Philip then worked as a Performance and Reliability Engineer at Oakley, where they evaluated the performance of abrasion resistant coatings.

Since 2016, Philip Kwong has been working at TruTag Technologies, Inc. in various roles. As a Director of Applications Engineering, they led technical and commercial feasibility assessments for product identity solutions in the agrochemical, consumer apparel, and food & beverage industries. As a Manager of Applications Engineering, they led anti-counterfeiting projects from proof-of-concept to scale-up, helping to secure >$2MM in contracts. As a Senior Applications Engineer, they established protocols to detect counterfeit drugs for registration with the China Food & Drug Administration.

Philip Kwong completed their Ph. D. in Chemical Engineering at the University of Southern California from 2010 to 2015. In 2020, they obtained a Master of Business Administration - MBA from Quantic School of Business and Technology. From 2005 to 2010, they obtained a B. Sc. with Professional Internship in Engineering Chemistry from Queen's University. In July 2022, they obtained a Google Data Analytics Foundations certification from Coursera.
