Senior Data Scientist at Tubi

Noah Silbert has diverse work experience in various roles and organizations. Noah is currently serving as a Senior Data Scientist at Tubi since April 2021. Previously, they worked at the UMD Applied Research Laboratory for Intelligence & Security as an Associate Research Scientist from November 2019 to April 2021. In this role, they designed and implemented a study on sources of variation in LDA topic modeling and led a team in specifying proficiency test frameworks for programming and data science for the US Air Force.

Before that, Noah worked as a Senior Data Scientist at Netflix from January 2019 to July 2019. Noah focused on dub and subtitle product research and experimentation, utilizing skills in data processing, visualization, statistical modeling, experimental design, and causal inference. Noah extensively used SQL (Presto, Spark SQL), Jupyter Notebooks, Tableau, and Netflix's in-house tech stack for their work.

Noah also held academic positions. Noah served as an Assistant Professor at the University of Cincinnati from August 2013 to January 2019. Prior to that, they were a Research Scientist at the University of Maryland from August 2010 to August 2013.

Noah'searlier experience includes research fellowships and teaching roles at Indiana University. As a Research Fellow from September 2006 to May 2010, they conducted research and as an Instructor/Assistant Instructor, they taught linguistics courses. Additionally, they worked as a Graduate Research Assistant from May 2006 to August 2006 and from September 2003 to December 2005.

Throughout their career, Noah has gained expertise in data science, research, and teaching, with a focus on topics such as language assets in streaming video, human-in-the-loop DoD security workflows, and programming and data science proficiency.

Noah Silbert's education history begins with earning a Nanodegree in Data Engineering from Udacity in 2020. Prior to that, they attended Indiana University Bloomington from 2009 to 2010, where they obtained a Master of Science (M.S.) degree in Applied Statistics. Additionally, from 2002 to 2010, they pursued a PhD in Linguistics & Cognitive Science at the same institution. Before that, from 2000 to 2002, they attended the University of Hawaii at Manoa, where they received a Master of Arts (MA) degree in English as a Second Language, with a specific focus on Second Language Learning.
