Shahab Owlia has a diverse work experience in the field of automotive engineering and controls. Shahab focused on real-time obstacle avoidance and tailored academic research to meet end-product requirements. Shahab also assisted the research team in investigating specific UAV requirements based on expected encounter scenarios. Shahab worked in this role from September 2010 to March 2013. Additionally, they served as a Teacher Assistant at Carleton University from September 2010 to April 2012.

Shahab's career began at ServoTech M.E. as a Part-Time Engineer Assistant. In this role, they participated in automation projects in various industries such as packaging, food, and printing. Shahab assisted the lead engineer in programming and installing PLCs, HMIs, AC servo motors, and stepper motors. Shahab also provided technical support for automation products sold independently. Shahab held this position from 2006 to 2010.

Shahab Owlia completed their Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) degree in Solid Mechanics at Ferdowsi University of Mashhad. Subsequently, they pursued further education and obtained a Master of Applied Science (M.A.Sc) degree in Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering at Carleton University from 2010 to 2012.
