Shahab Owlia

Shahab Owlia has a diverse work experience in the field of automotive engineering and controls. Shahab is currently working at Tula Technology as a Customer Manager, a role they have held since December 2022. Prior to this, they worked as a Staff Research Engineer at Tula Technology starting from November 2021.

Before joining Tula Technology, Shahab worked at General Motors as a Calibration Specialist from December 2016 to September 2018. In this role, they focused on driver torque request, engine speed control, closed-loop fuel control, and diagnostics for a 2.0 L Turbo RWD vehicle.

Shahab also gained experience at FCA SRT, where they worked as an Engine Controls/Calibration specialist. Shahab was involved in thermal controls for the SRT Hellcat 6.2L Supercharged HEMI V8 engine and controls/calibration for the GMET4 2.0L Turbocharged engine from February 2014 to December 2016.

Prior to their work at FCA SRT, Shahab worked as a Powertrain Controls Engineer at IAV Automotive Engineering from December 2013 to December 2016.

Earlier in their career, Shahab worked as a Research Assistant and Teacher Assistant at Carleton University. As a Research Assistant, they worked on the development of an autonomous UAV for geophysical surveys. Shahab focused on real-time obstacle avoidance and tailored academic research to meet end-product requirements. Shahab also assisted the research team in investigating specific UAV requirements based on expected encounter scenarios. Shahab worked in this role from September 2010 to March 2013. Additionally, they served as a Teacher Assistant at Carleton University from September 2010 to April 2012.

Shahab's career began at ServoTech M.E. as a Part-Time Engineer Assistant. In this role, they participated in automation projects in various industries such as packaging, food, and printing. Shahab assisted the lead engineer in programming and installing PLCs, HMIs, AC servo motors, and stepper motors. Shahab also provided technical support for automation products sold independently. Shahab held this position from 2006 to 2010.

Shahab Owlia completed their Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) degree in Solid Mechanics at Ferdowsi University of Mashhad. Subsequently, they pursued further education and obtained a Master of Applied Science (M.A.Sc) degree in Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering at Carleton University from 2010 to 2012.
