Alfonso Garrido-Lecca, Ph.D.

Alfonso Garrido-Lecca, Ph.D. has a wealth of work experience. In 2000, they began as a Laboratory Assistant at Texas A&M University College of Veterinary Medicine & Biomedical Sciences under Robert Dunstan DVM, PhD. In 2002, they became a Research Technician at Texas A&M University under Makis Skoulakis PhD. In 2003, they moved to Baylor College of Medicine as a Research Technician under James Huang MD, where they investigated the function of the SBDS gene in S. cerevisiea. From 2006 to 2014, they were a PhD Student at University of Colorado Boulder under Tom Blumenthal PhD, where they developed a protocol for chromatin immunoprecipitation (ChIP) in C. elegans and used this technique to investigate RNA Pol II transcription termination and pre-mRNA processing. Since 2014, they have been at the University of Colorado Boulder as a Postdoctoral Research Associate, where they designed and executed projects in the lab investigating the role that miRNAs play in cancer initiation and metastasis, and managed and oriented undergraduate/graduate students in the lab with scientific projects and lab techniques. In 2020, they became the Director of Research Development and Chief Science Officer at TUMI Genomics.

Alfonso Garrido-Lecca, Ph.D. obtained a Bachelor's degree in Biology, General from Texas A&M University between 1998 and 2001, and a Bachelor of Arts - BA in Biology, General from the same institution during the same period. Alfonso also obtained a Bachelor's degree in Biology/Biological Sciences, General from Texas A&M University between 1998 and 2001. In 2007, they earned a Doctor of Philosophy - PhD in Molecular Biology from the University of Colorado Boulder. In 2021, they obtained a certification in Biomedical Research Investigators and Key Personnel from the CITI Program.
