Kristen Galles

Kristen Galles has a diverse work experience spanning over several years. Kristen started their career at Tartan High School in 1993, where they worked as an English teacher for 14 years. During their time there, they taught various English courses to students in grades 9-12, including Advanced Placement Composition and Literature, college composition, grammar, and American literature. Kristen also held additional responsibilities such as English department chair and served on various committees.

In 2008, Kristen became the owner of BookClubClassics, a position they held until 2016. Additionally, they worked as a Shelf Awareness Book Reviewer from 2013 to 2015, contributing their insights and opinions on various books.

Kristen also has experience in the field of education outside of the classroom. From 2009 onwards, they worked as a Mentor and Tutor at Tutor.com, assisting students in their academic endeavors. In 2015, they joined the University of Phoenix as a Teacher, and their tenure continued until 2018.

Most recently, Kristen served as the Volunteer Program Manager at Foothills Animal Shelter from 2017. In this role, they managed the volunteer program, overseeing the recruitment and training of volunteers to support the shelter's mission.

Kristen Galles earned a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in English and Secondary Education from Valparaiso University between 1987 and 1991. Kristen later pursued a Master of Liberal Studies (M.A.L.S.) degree in English at Hamline University from 1996 to 2001. In 2016, Kristen obtained certification as a Humane Education Specialist from the Humane Society of the United States. Kristen also completed a Clicker Training for Shelter Dogs course at Karen Pryor's Academy for Animal Training and Behavior in the same year. Additionally, Kristen is a Certified Humane Education Specialist through The Academy for Prosocial Learning.
