Jamal Coleman's work experience begins in 1995 when they were recruited as a Media Buyer Planner at Leo Burnett. Jamal then worked as a Sr. Media Buyer/Planner at Burrell Communications, where they planned media spending for AA targeted brands. In 1997, they became the Eastern Advertising Manager at Heart & Soul magazine, managing accounts in various categories. From 1998 to 2004, they held multiple roles at Essence Magazine, including Sponsorship Sales Director and Account Executive/Sr. Account Manager. During this time, they negotiated advertising sales and sponsorship deals, achieving revenue growth and implementing on-site programs. From 2005 to 2007, they served as the Sponsorship Sales Director at Vibe Magazine, creating cross-platform media opportunities. In 2013, they worked in Advertising Sales at The Africa Channel before joining Rescue | The Behavior Change Agency in 2015 as an Account Supervisor. In this role, they led media planning and strategy development for the Food & Drug Administration. Jamal then started working at JColeman Presents in 2007 as a Sales & Marketing Strategist, where they created and executed sponsorship marketing strategies for various clients. Currently, they hold the position of Vice President Advertising Sales and Marketing at TV One since 2019.

Jamal Coleman attended Clark Atlanta University from 1990 to 1995, where they obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in Mass Media Arts with a focus on Public Relations. Their field of study included Public Relations and Marketing.
