Louis Byers has a diverse work experience spanning various roles and industries. From 2000 to 2001, they worked as a French and Spanish Teacher at John F. Kennedy Memorial High School. Louis then transitioned to the aviation industry, serving as an Airline Caterer at Flight Line Inn from 2001 to 2002. Following that, they joined the United States Army as an Avenger Crewmember from 2002 to 2005.

In 2007, Louis began their career in software development at Concentric Sky, Inc. There, they worked on educational products, including projects for Encyclopedia Britannica, The World Bank, and Cengage Learning. Louis continued to work at Concentric Sky, Inc. until 2014, taking on the role of Software Developer.

Moving forward, Louis joined the University of Oregon in 2014 as a Software Developer, where they designed and built an educational game ecosystem for the iPad. Louis worked there until 2016. During this time, they also took on the role of Director of Engineering and Platform Lead at Concentric Sky, Inc. where they contributed to code, led a team, and performed platform lead duties for the LRNG portfolio.

In 2022, Louis became an Engineering Manager at Instructure and executed the technical transition of the Badgr codebase to new team members and management. Louis then joined Chairish later that year as a Senior Software Engineer, where they supported the company's expansion into Canada and Europe and contributed to the design and development of new features.

In 2023, Louis founded their own company, Code Byers Consulting LLC, where they served as the Chief Engineer. Louis offered software development consulting services, including design, development, and process improvement.

Currently, Louis is working as a Staff Software Engineer at Twenty Ideas, starting in June 2023.

Louis Byers attended Lane Community College from 2005 to 2007 but did not obtain a degree or specialize in any field of study during that time. From 1994 to 1998, they pursued a Bachelor of Arts degree in Linguistics at the University of Oregon. Louis also holds additional certifications, including "Spring: Framework in Depth" from LinkedIn, which they obtained in February 2023, and a Scrum Master Certified (SMC) designation from Scrum Alliance, which they obtained in December 2016.
