Michael Sapienza

Michael Sapienza is currently the VP of ML & AI at TWO. Prior to this, they worked as a Computer Vision Scientist at NEON from September 2019 to June 2021. Michael also worked as a Computer Vision Scientist at Samsung Electronics from February 2017 to June 2021, and as a Postdoctoral Research Assistant in Computer Vision at the University of Oxford from November 2014 to January 2017. Michael's research has focused on helping partially sighted people become more independent. With the aid of specialised glasses with in-built cameras, they have helped to reconstruct scenes in 3D and provide automatic visual enhancements or audio descriptions of important scene elements. In 2009, they interned at INRIA, where they gained valuable experience in the field of computer vision.

Michael Sapienza has a Master of Science in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from the University of Malta, a Doctor of Philosophy in Computer Vision and Machine Learning from Oxford Brookes University, and a Bachelor of Engineering in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from the University of Nottingham.
