Amanda Bennett has a diverse and extensive work experience in the field of journalism. Amanda is currently serving as the Chief Executive Officer at the United States Agency for Global Media, starting in October 2022. Prior to this, they were the Director at Voice of America from April 2016 to September 2021. Amanda also worked as a Contributing Columnist at The Washington Post from July 2015 to April 2016. Amanda gained experience as an Investigative reporter/editor while working independently from November 2013 to April 2016. Earlier in their career, they held the role of Executive Editor/Projects and Investigations at Bloomberg News from February 2007 to November 2013. Amanda has also served as an Editor at Philadelphia Inquirer from June 2003 to November 2006 and as the Editor in Chief at The Lexington Herald-Leader from September 2001 to June 2003. Amanda started their career at The Wall Street Journal, where they held various roles including bureau chief from November 1975 to June 1998 and Beijing Correspondent from February 1983 to November 1985.
Amanda Bennett attended Boonton High School from 1966 to 1970, where they did not pursue a specific degree or field of study. Following their high school education, they enrolled at Harvard University from 1972 to 1975, where they obtained a Degree of Bachelor of Arts (AB) in English and American Literature and Language.
