Jerry Renne

Director of Public Affairs at U.S. Air Force

Mr. Jerry Renne, a member of the Senior Executive Service, is the Director of Public Affairs, Office of the Secretary of the Air Force, the Pentagon, Arlington, Virginia. In addition to advising the Secretary, Air Force Chief of Staff, and Chief of Space Operations on Public Affairs matters, he is responsible for developing and executing global communication processes to build understanding and support for the Air Force and Space Force. He provides guidance and support for nearly 4,500 active duty, Guard and Reserve Airmen and civilians in their mission to broadcast internal Air Force and Space Force information, conduct community and media relations, plan and synchronize Department of the Air Force communication efforts, and execute security review programs.

Mr. Renne entered the Air Force in 1981 as a graduate of the Air Force ROTC program, University of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He began his career as a Titan II intercontinental ballistic missile launch officer, and subsequently served as a Ground Launched Cruise Missile crew commander and Airborne Launch Control System crew commander, before transitioning to the public affairs career field in 1992. He served his first public affairs assignment at Headquarters Air Force Materiel Command, Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio, from 1992 to 1994. He went on to serve in Center, three Major Command, Air Staff and two Combatant Command public affairs positions. During his Pentagon tour, Mr. Renne was the public affairs advisor to the U.S. Air Force Chief of Staff, from 1998 to 2000. He deployed to Sarajevo, Bosnia-Herzegovina in 1996 and to Qatar and Baghdad, Iraq, in 2004-2005. Mr. Renne retired active duty as Director, Public Affairs, Headquarters, U.S. Central Command in 2007. He served 27 years as an active-duty Air Force officer. Prior to this position, he was the Principal Deputy Director of Air Force Public Affairs for five years.
