Shakirah's career began at Luxottica Retail North America as an Inventory Planner, followed by positions at Standard Textile, Toyota, and various companies. Shakirah holds an MBA from Keller Graduate School of Management of DeVry University and a B.B.A. in Economics from the University of Cincinnati.
