Mike Cortese

Mike Cortese is an experienced professional with a robust background in the U.S. Coast Guard and education in instructional systems and human performance technology. Currently serving as Response Chief since April 2021, Mike previously held significant roles including Performance Systems Branch Chief at USCG ATC Mobile, Commanding Officer at U.S. Coast Guard Station Miami Beach, and Chief of Enforcement at United States Coast Guard Sector New York. Mike's early career involved teaching law enforcement protocols at the USCG Maritime Law Enforcement Academy and serving aboard the USCGC MOHAWK. Additionally, Mike worked as a contractor in mechanical systems and as a firefighter before pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Economics and Business at Virginia Military Institute and a Master of Science from Florida State University.
