Josh Startup

Josh Startup has extensive experience in international trade and policy advocacy, currently serving as a Commercial Officer and Digital Trade Officer at the U.S. Department of Commerce since December 2009. In this role, Josh manages a team focused on trade promotion within the services and education sectors. Previous positions include roles as a Foreign Commercial Service Officer, International Trade Analyst, and volunteer for the Obama-Biden Transition Team. Early career experience includes internships with the Clinton Foundation and the White House, a legislative correspondent position for U.S. Senator Byron Dorgan, and a media specialist role at The Rendon Group. Josh holds a JD from the University of Iowa College of Law, an MSCi from the S. Rajaratnam School of International Studies, a graduate certificate from the East-West Center, and a BA in International Relations from Carleton College.
