Nicole Lee Ndumele

Nicole Lee Ndumele is a seasoned legal professional currently serving as the Deputy Associate Attorney General at the U.S. Department of Justice since April 2023. Prior roles include Senior Vice President of Rights & Justice and Vice President for Racial Equity & Justice at the Center for American Progress from May 2021 to April 2023. Nicole also held the position of Director of Strategic Litigation at Arnold Ventures between May 2019 and May 2021, and served as Counsel at Protect Democracy from 2017 to 2019. Earlier in their career, Nicole worked at the U.S. Department of Justice's Civil Rights Division in various capacities, including Legislative & Policy Counsel and Trial Attorney, and gained experience as a Public Defender at the Committee for Public Counsel Services. Nicole began their legal career as a Skadden Fellow with the Lawyers' Committee for Civil Rights from 2006 to 2008. Educational qualifications include a Bachelor's degree from Brown University and a Juris Doctor degree from Harvard Law School.
