Richard E. Zuckerman

Richard E. Zuckerman joined the Tax Division on December 18, 2017, as the Deputy Assistant Attorney General for Criminal Matters and the Division’s Principal Deputy Assistant Attorney General. As such, he serves as the Head of the Tax Division.

Previously, Mr. Zuckerman was a partner and practice group leader of the White Collar Crime and Government Investigations Group at Honigman Miller Schwartz and Cohn LLP in Detroit, Michigan, and a partner with Raymond Rupp Weinberg Stone & Zuckerman. He began his legal career as a trial lawyer with the Justice Department’s Organized Crime and Racketeering Section in the Detroit Strike Force. Mr. Zuckerman received a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science from the University of Michigan and then served four years as an officer in the United States Navy. Following his service, he attended Southwestern University School of Law in Los Angeles, receiving his JD Degree cum laude. Mr. Zuckerman has graduate education in taxation at the Wayne State University School of Law in Detroit. He has taught as an Adjunct Professor of Tax Fraud at the Detroit College of Law, Michigan State University School of Law, and Cooley Law School, and for Senior Special CID Agents of the Detroit Division of the IRS. He is an avid University of Michigan Football fan.
