Michael Chelen

Michael Chelen has extensive work experience in various roles. Michael served as the Lead of the VA.gov Platform and Technical Lead for the Health Team at the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, where they managed engineering across multiple teams and coordinated with stakeholders on implementation approaches. Michael also worked as a Digital Services Expert at the United States Digital Service. Prior to that, they were an Independent Contractor, specializing in software and web development projects. Michael served as the Lead Software Engineer at STSI and Senior Software Engineer at TCG, leading teams and implementing complex web applications. Additionally, they worked as a Video Streaming Specialist at Meeting Tomorrow, Research Associate at The Hampshire Research Institute, Instructor at Kaplan Test Prep and Admissions, Visiting Scholar, and Undergraduate Researcher at the University of Pittsburgh. Michael started their career as a Website Developer at The Blue Curve.

Michael Chelen earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Biological Sciences from Carnegie Mellon University, completing their studies from 2001 to 2005. Prior to that, they obtained their High School Diploma from Sidwell Friends School between 1997 and 2001. In 2018, Chelen also obtained a certification as a Certified Developer - Drupal 8 from Acquia.
