John Taber

John Taber is an accomplished economist with extensive experience in both academic and applied settings. Currently serving as an economist at the U.S. Energy Information Administration since September 2022, John also operates Neutral Nerd Minis as the owner since September 2020. Previously, John held the position of technical leader at the Electric Power Research Institute from November 2017 to September 2022 and served as an adjunct professor at the University of Maryland College Park from January 2017 to December 2019. Prior roles include economist at the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission and adjunct professor at Georgetown University. John began their academic career as a graduate teaching assistant at Cornell University while earning a Ph.D. in Applied Economics, complemented by a Master’s degree in the same field from Cornell and dual Bachelor’s degrees in Physics and Economics from The Ohio State University.
