Senior Continuous Improvement Manager at U.S. Silica

Kara Savage, EIT has a diverse work experience in various roles and industries. Kara started their career in 2013 as a Teaching Assistant at Virginia Tech, where they assisted in organizing and leading outdoor lab sessions. Kara then worked as a Student Intern at ArrMaz, conducting laboratory flotation tests and data analysis. At the West Virginia Robotic Technology Center, Kara served as a Student Intern, assisting with asteroid and rock mechanics research and preparing technical reports. Kara further expanded their knowledge as a Graduate Research Assistant at West Virginia University, focusing on nondestructive methods to estimate rock strength at low temperatures.

In 2016, Kara joined Southern Ionics Minerals as a Process Engineer, contributing their expertise to the company's operations. Kara later took on roles at U.S. Silica Company, starting as a Plant Engineer and advancing to Operations Improvement Engineer and Operations Improvement Manager. Currently, they hold the position of Senior Continuous Improvement Manager at U.S. Silica Company.

Throughout their career, Kara has demonstrated their ability to contribute to various aspects of engineering and continuous improvement, making their a valuable asset to any organization.

Kara Savage, EIT, obtained a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Mining and Mineral Engineering from Virginia Tech, where they studied from 2010 to 2014. Following their undergraduate studies, they pursued a Master of Science (MS) degree in Mining Engineering from West Virginia University from 2014 to 2016. In March 2015, they obtained the Engineering Intern certification from the WV Board of Registration for Professional Engineers.
