Susan Gilbert-Miller, Ph.D., Esq. has over 25 years of experience in sustainability, labor and human rights, environmental management, and legal roles. In 2021, they began serving as Vice President of Sustainability for U.S. Venture, Inc. Prior to this, they were Director of Sustainability Impacts at the Global Electronics Council (GEC) from 2020-2021, where they led industry, government, institutional purchaser, and NGO labor and human rights consensus building process for corporate and social responsibility sustainable electronic products’ standards. From 2011-2017, they were Sustainability and Fleet Manager for the U.S. Department of Labor, advising executive leadership and supporting the Chief Sustainability Officer in achieving ambitious federal sustainability and fleet goals. In 2017, they became Director of the Office of Sustainability for the County of Santa Clara, leading County efforts across over 60 departments to strategically advance and achieve the Board of Supervisor’s sustainability and climate defense goals. From 2013-2011, they were a Presidential Management Fellow at the Council on Environmental Quality, Executive Office of the President, serving as a sustainability expert and technical advisor to the White House. From 2009-2004, they held various legal roles at the U.S. Department of Justice, Environmental Enforcement Section, US EPA, and Natural Heritage Institute. From 2004-2003, they were Executive Director of SOI, where they directed operations, business development, and fundraising and provided strategic planning, budgeting, change leadership and stakeholder management for this non-profit and its subsidiaries. From 2003-2003, they were President of Responsible Manufacturing, Inc., where they founded, built and directed company providing regulatory environmental, health and safety (EHS) services to manufacturers. Lastly, from 2003-1996, they were a Senior Consultant for SAI Global and Director of Environmental Services for the Chicago Manufacturing Center.

Susan Gilbert-Miller, Ph.D., Esq. obtained their B.A. in Chemistry from California State University, Northridge, magna cum laude. Susan then went on to pursue their Ph.D. from The University of Manchester, in the field of International environmental policy from the Institute of Development, Policy, and Management. Susan then attended the University of San Francisco School of Law, where they obtained their J.D., magna cum laude. In 2011, they obtained their License to Practice Law from the State Bar of California, and in 2014, they obtained their License to Practice Law from the Bar Association of the District of Columbia. Susan also holds an ESG Professional Certification from the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI).
